Study: 8Jesus Christ is our Shepherd, even our Master and Father, but all of us are Brethern
After
a careful reading of Matthew
23.1-12, let us ask ourselves: could we replace in the text of Matthew
23.8 the word “Rabbi” for the word shepherd? If we do it the
phrase should be written as follows: “But be not ye called
shepherd; for One is your Shepherd
(Jesus Christ) and all ye are Brethern”.
As we may see there is no a conceptual difference between the former and
those which is expressed about master (Matthew
23.10), for always all of us are Brethern.
And what about the word father or Father?; the Lord taught us about it:
“And call no man your father (or Father) upon the earth: For One is your
Father which is in heaven” (Matthew
23.9). Although, that is in a strictly Spiritual Sense. In fact, we
may affirm that Jesus Christ delivers, in his Genuine Church, Spiritual
Gifts through his Holy Spirit unto every member according to his Oun Will
(see 1
Corinthians 12.1-31); thus if Jesus Christ Anoints a particular
Brother to lead, help and protect the Flock, it must be not understood, by
any means, that the weak human spirit of that Brother is doing those
specifical Tasks, but contrariwise te Almighty Spirit of the Lord is Who
works all in all. On the same wise is for that Brother who is a prophet,
and for those who is a preacher, etc. ; but always One is the Prophet, One
the Preacher, and son on, who is Jesus Christ Himself.
The
above Spiritual Reasoning avoids that any Brother (or Sister) “swelling
Himself” falls into satan’s snare due he’s called a shepherd,
master, prophet, and as it is happen in the catholic church to be called a
“father” (or “Father”) which is the worse of everything. Let’s
meditate on that which is written in 1
Corinthians 4:7: “For
who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hath thou that didst not
receive?. Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou
hadst not received it? (see also 2
Corinthians 3.5-6; 1
Corinthians 8.2-3). A-men.
