Isaiah 9:6-7
6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will beno end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Jeremiah 23:5-6

“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD,
“ That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

33:14-17

‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will perform that
good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house
of Judah:
15 ‘ In those days and at that time
I will cause to grow up to David
A Branch of righteousness;
He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
16 In those days Judah will be saved,
And Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which she will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’
17 “For thus says the LORD: ‘David shall never lack a man to
sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your
kingdom.
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
Isaiah 42:1-8

“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth.
4 He will not fail nor be discouraged,
Till He has established justice in the earth;
And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
5 Thus says God the LORD,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it,
Who gives breath to the people on it,
And spirit to those who walk on it:
6 “ I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness,
And will hold Your hand;
I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the Gentiles,
7 To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the prison,
Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.
8 I am the LORD, that is My name;
And My glory I will not give to another,
Nor My praise to carved images.

The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake;
He will exalt the law and make it honorable.

O God of Israel, the Savior!
16 They shall be ashamed
And also disgraced, all of them;
They shall go in confusion together,
Who are makers of idols.
17 But Israel shall be saved by the LORD
With an everlasting salvation;
You shall not be ashamed or disgraced
Forever and ever.
18 For thus says the LORD,
Who created the heavens,
Who is God,
Who formed the earth and made it,
Who has established it,
Who did not create it in vain,
Who formed it to be inhabited:
“ I am the LORD, and there is no other.
19 I have not spoken in secret,
In a dark place of the earth;
I did not say to the seed of Jacob,
‘ Seek Me in vain’;
I, the LORD, speak righteousness,
I declare things that are right.
20 “ Assemble yourselves and come;
Draw near together,
You who have escaped from the nations.
They have no knowledge,
Who carry the wood of their carved image,
And pray to a god that cannot save.
21 Tell and bring forth your case;
Yes, let them take counsel together.
Who has declared this from ancient time?
Who has told it from that time?
Have not I, the LORD?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.
22 “ Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
23 I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.
24 He shall say,
‘ Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength.
To Him men shall come,
And all shall be ashamed
Who are incensed against Him.
25 In the LORD all the descendants of Israel
Shall be justified, and shall glory.’”
Psalm 72:1-7

Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the king’s Son.
2 He will judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your poor with justice.
3 The mountains will bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, by righteousness.
4 He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear You
As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing,
Like showers that water the earth.
7 In His days the righteous shall flourish,
And abundance of peace,
Until the moon is no more.
Isaiah 28:16-17
16 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
17 Also I will make justice the measuring line,
And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Isaiah 26:9-10

With my soul I have desired You in the night,
Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;
For when Your judgments are in the earth,
The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
10 Let grace be shown to the wicked,
Yet he will not learn righteousness;
In the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly,
And will not behold the majesty of the LORD.

Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.

Isaiah 60:16-17

Isaiah 61:1-11

The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,
They shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
And the sons of the foreigner
Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD,
They shall call you the servants of our God.
You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,
And in their glory you shall boast.
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double
honor,
And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their
portion.
Therefore in their land they shall possess double;
Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
8 “ For I, the LORD, love justice;
I hate robbery for burnt offering;
I will direct their work in truth,
And will make with them an everlasting covenant.
9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,
And their offspring among the people.
All who see them shall acknowledge them,
That they are the posterity whom the LORD has
blessed.”
10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring
forth,
So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring
forth before all the nations.
Isaiah 62:1-3
1
For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,
And all kings your glory.
You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the LORD will name.
3 You shall also be a crown of glory
In the hand of the LORD,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.
Isaiah 32:15-18

Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.

Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,
And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
17 The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.
18 My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,
In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places,

Against sorcerers,
Against adulterers,
Against perjurers,
Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans,
And against those who turn away an alien—
Because they do not fear Me,”
Says the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 4:2-3

The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;

And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word
which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through

was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the
baptism which John preached: 38 how God anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good
and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in
the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a
tree. 40 Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him
openly, 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen
before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He
arose from the dead. 42 And He commanded us to preach to the
people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be
Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To Him all the prophets
witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive
remission of sins.”
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy
Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those
of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with
Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the
Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and
magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these
should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we
have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the
name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
John 16:7-13

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go
away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I
depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He
will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of
righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11
of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot
bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of
truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak
on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He
will tell you things to come.
Luke 18:6-8

shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him,
though He bears long with them? 8 I tell you that He will
avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He
really find faith on the earth?”

came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in
his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled,
saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language
in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites,
those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya
adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11
Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful
works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed,
saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to
them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to
you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you
suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16
But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days,
says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved.’
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man
attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did
through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23
Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God,
you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;
24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because
it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For
David says concerning Him:
‘ I foresaw the LORD always before my face,
For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was
glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’
29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to
you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his
tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet,
and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of
his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on
his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the
resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did
His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of
which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the
right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of
the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
34 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says
himself:
‘ The LORD said to my Lord,
“ Sit at My right hand,
35 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that
God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the
heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and
brethren, what shall we do?”
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you
be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and
you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the
promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as
many as the Lord our God will call.”
1 Peter 1:1-12

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia,
and Bithynia, 2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God
the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and
sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace be multiplied. 3 Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant
mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible
and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while,
if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that
the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold
that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise,
honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom
having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet
believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9
receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched
carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of
Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the
sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To
them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were
ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those
who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from
heaven—things which angels desire to look into.
Hebrews 2:1-4

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have
heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through
angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience
received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect
so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4
God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various
miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Romans 1:17-18

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as
it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”18 For
the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has

accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who
works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the
ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as
David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes
righteousness apart from works:
7 “ Blessed are those whose lawless
deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the
man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”
Galatians 3:5-11

Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among
you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of
faith?— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was
accounted to him for righteousness.” 7 Therefore know
that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by
faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In
you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those
who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the
curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does
not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to
do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in
the sight of God is evident, for “the
just shall live by faith.”

works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works
when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith
without works is dead also.
Romans 5:8-11
